GOES GmbH – Chemicals & Proppants

CHEMICALS

Our Mother Company, KATT GmbH, supplies oilfield chemicals based on two different criteria:

1. Stimulation Chemicals

Stimulation chemicals are all the materials needed to provide acid or proppant stimulation on gas and oil wells. Fluids required for underbalanced wellbore cleanouts are also included in this group.

2. Production Chemicals

Production chemicals are supplied to reduce, eliminate and/or prevent well bore contaminants that cause production decreases. Scale, corrosion, and paraffin are the most common problems seen by our customers.

Case Study: Emulsified Treatment on an Injector Well

A customer performed an emulsified acid treatment on an injector well, using KATT chemicals, and was successful in reducing pumping pressure from 80 bars to 30 bars while at the same time increasing injection rate from 140 liters/minute to 240 liters /minute (see chart at the right).

PROPPANTS

KATT GmbH also supplies proppant for hydraulic fracturing. There is a selection criteria used to tailor fit the correct proppant for the well conditions.

1. Natural Sand

Natural sand is the most economical of all propping materials but can only be used in consolidated formations with shallow productive zones.

2. Coated Sand

Coated sand and proppant is used if the productive zone is unconsolidated or if flow back sand and proppant cannot be tolerated.

3. Ceramic Proppant

Ceramic proppant is used when closure stress exceeds the crush resistance of natural sand. This is typically used on gas and oil wells deeper than 1.800 meters.

4. Ultra Lightweight Proppant

Ultra lightweight proppant is a new and revolutionary proppant. Advantages are that frac height will be reduced, injected fluids can be reduced and wellbore cleanouts are not required. The proppant pack is targeted to the productive layer.
